Subject	Can I remove the window seal around the hatch glass?

Message	I'm trying to tape up the glass on my hatch so I can start painting. The hatch is off the car, can I remove the seal around the glass, so I can tape it off properly, and be able to reinstall it when I'm done painting? Does it just pull out and then press back in? I'm worried about taping over a small section of the old paint - spraying and then having a line of the old paint around the glass when I'm done. Hatch is black and I'm painting red, so that would be very noticeable.
